Catalyst are: The idea of the formation of the band came from Peter. While hanging out with Lubo, they decided to form a punk band. Lubo bought the old bass guitar from Peter and Peter in return bought a guitar from his just sold bass guitar money. After a weeks trying to play together in rhytm, they start playing with their drummer, a classmate of Lubo - Shemet (ex-Nedelia, Breakaway, Tough Enough, Start Today). Joro joined the band as a second guitarist while Peter decided that he didn't have time anymore to play the guitar and decided to quit. Nikul (ex-Breakaway), classmate and best friend of Lubo and Shemet joined the band and became the new guitar player. At that time, the band had no vocal because none of the existing band members could play and sing at the same time, so Peter decided to give a hand and joined the band again. In this formation, the band started to make its own songs and decided that the band should have a name. For a while, they called themselves Ice Burn, a name that only Lubo and Joro liked. Stanko, a very good friend of the band suggested "Catalyst" and after a short conversation, they all agreed upon the name "Catalyst". After a few months and first four songs Joro decided to go to Florida,US to study. Moreover, Peter decided to quit the band because he was of the opinion that he was not active within the band and only an obstacle. Nikul, Shemet and Lubo continued further on as a trio. Nikul and Lubo started trying to sing (something they still do without great success). In the summer of 2005, Joro came back from the USA and Catalyst started recording their first ten songs. Unfortunately, at the end of the summer, it was time for Joro to get back to the USA and Catalyst decided it was about time for a new guitar player. Bobi joined the trio in the summer, a friend of Nikul, who came to be a very cool dude and just the right person for the band. In a few weeks time, Bobi learnt all the songs and after a few more shows the band started started making new songs with a different sound. Catalyst would like to say a big "thank you" to Peter and Joro. Without you, Catalyst wouldn't be the way it is now, you will always be a part of it. We love you both so much! We believe that we have finally found the best band formation and if you think that the story will end here you are wrong....it just begins ;) photo by Ralev.com |
